Healthy Snacking in the Work Place

A Healthy Career

Healthy Snacking at home is one thing, but accomplishing it at work is quite a different story.  In an office, where a fridge and pantry are often times not available, bagged and sealed snack foods are very popular.  The vending machine industry offers these convenient snacks to hardworking men and women around the country each and everyday.  Chocolate candy and potato chips are by far the most popular snacks purchased by vending machine consumers, followed by baked goods and other candy varieties.  By planning ahead and having healthy snacks at your desk or with you in your brief case, it is easier to control your calorie and nutrition intake on the job by satisfying your hunger without the use of sugar-laden candies.  "Katherine Tallmadge, a registered dietitian and spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, tells her clients to snack up to three times a day but to limit calories to 100-200 calories for each snack."[1]  Often times, when people are eating at their desks, they eat thier snacks very rapidly and mindlessly.  This mindless consumption can result in your body taking in calories that really don't need.  Put all of your work aside when you snack and you'll be able to recharge not only your body, but your mind as well.

"According to a recent study out of Duke University Medical Center, obese employees cost companies more money than their fit counterparts inlost workdays, higher medical costs, and more worker's compensation claims."[2]  These days, maintaining health and fitness may no longer be a personal issue, but rather a social responsibility.

KIND Corporate Loyalty Program

Many companies have begun to offer "wellness programs" to their employees.  These programs help encourage healthy snacking habits and moderation, which often times saves them money with reduced health care premiums.  Companies are also realizing the benefits of offering more healthy snacking options in the office rather than the traditional donuts and coffee.

We have created a Corporate Loyalty Program for companies and businesses who wish to offer convienient healthy snacking options in the work place.  KIND bars not only encourage healthy eating habits, but also promote social responsibility and international peace.  5% of all profits from KIND is donated to the PeaceWorks Foundation, helping to bring peace and conflict resolution to the middle east.  Learn more about the PeaceWorks mission here.  With KIND Fruit and Nut bars, we make it easy and affordable for you to offer your employees a snack that is nutritionally balanced, satisfying, and utterly delicious!  Say goodbye to those sugar-soaked pick-me-ups in the lounge vending machine, KIND bars are wholesome and all-natural alternative, providing the nutritional boost we all need throughout the work week.
