– Contributes Bars to Food Bank of NY, Reminds Consumers of Safety –
March 4, 2009 (New York, NY) – Today New York-based KIND Snacks will join America’ s peanut farmers, more than a dozen major U.S. manufacturers, and other peanut industry organizations at New York City’s Grand Central Station to reassure consumers about the safety of peanuts and educate them about their benefits.
The open house, hosted by the National Peanut Board, is held at a critical time when some consumers are unsure if the recall conducted by the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) last month affected their favorite snacks. KIND was unaffected by the PCA recall, and PCA does not supply any peanut products used in KIND Bars. Over the course of March 4th and 5th, New Yorkers will get to sample peanut products, learn about the benefits of peanuts, and see an actual field of peanuts growing in the heart of Manhattan.
In addition, a sizeable donation from the manufacturers and farmers will be made to the Food Bank of New York to help consumers understand that most peanut products are safe, and they can go back to donating these products to food banks.
Other companies and brands participating include Hampton Farms, Jif, Lance, Mars, MoonPie, Peanut Butter & Co., Peter Pan, Planters, Smithfield Foods/Peanut Shop of Williamsburg, Snyder’s of Hanover and Sunland.
