The days of bland snack bars are officially over. Kind Fruit + Nut Bars by Peaceworks have taken their place, and what you see is what you get: They're made of wonderfully uncomplicated, all-natural ingredients (including almonds, macadamias, raisins, bananas and apricots) and little else. The bars come in 10 yummy flavors, are a good source of fiber, and range from 150 to 225 calories each. (My favorites: Walnut & Date and Almond & Apricot). A bonus: 5 percent of profits supports peace efforts in the Middle East.
Kind Fruit + Nut Bars, $1.69 at area Whole Foods stores and at Gary's World of Wellness, 4 W. Mount Kirk Ave., Eagleville, 610-539- 6727; $1.89 at Essene Market & Cafe, 719 S. Fourth St., Philadelphia, 215-922-1146.
