What is your cause and how will it make the world kinder?
Homes in Nicaragua’s slums typically have dirt floors and no doors or windows. The homes that this donation will provide are sturdy, reliable structures that protect adults and children from disease, create a place for quality rest, and provide the basic and necessary shelter from the elements. We often take the roof over our heads for granted and your support you will be enabling me to go down there to build one of the homes with my bare hands, with some help from local community leaders, volunteers, and the family that will be living in the home itself. It will make the world kinder because sometimes to make a difference all it takes is placing your needs aside in order to help give someone else their basic needs.
How will you use the $10k?
$3,300 dollars is enough to build a new pre-fabricated home for a family in Nicaragua currently living in slum conditions. So $10k will be enough to build 3 houses that will improve the lives of 3 families, and the rest will be donated to TECHO, which is the non-profit that organizes building trips as a way of fighting for a poverty-free world.
What impact do you hope to make?
The impact that I hope to make, apart from helping families get the house they need, is to inspire others to take part in similar opportunities because even though this will take place in a small town in Nicaragua I want to make sure that the impact generated will inspire others to spread kindness. The world certainly needs a big hug and lots of love because there are, countless amount of people who need help from others to strive for survival. I want others to feel grateful and appreciate what they have by putting things into perspective. Thinking this way will make them kinder citizens of the world we live in because the reality is that, no act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.
