What is your cause and how will it make the world kinder?
Human trafficking is modern-day slavery, and Heavenly Hope International has a mission to serve those are victims, survivors, and those at risk of it, in Detroit and surrounding areas through outreach and advocacy. We also educate communities, law enforcement, foster care facilities, medical professionals, and other organizations about prevention and signs of trafficking.
We believe the greatest way to show a victim and survivor care, is by building relationship and trust through acts of consistent kindness. Heavenly Hope shows their kindness by going out into the streets, shelters, and other places where exploitation occurs, and brings them gift bags, roses, food, and hygiene kits and offers love, support, and resources.
How will you use the $10k?
With 10,000 dollars, Heavenly Hope would be able to expand the outreach teams, purchase all of the materials for the gifts bags as well as the roses for outreaches, receive further training for our team, purchase more training materials for us to educate more in the community, and provide funds for survivors for their medical care, dental care, food, gas, and items needed for their new living arrangements. Inside the gifts bags are bath and body works, (we actually out Kind bars in the bags), hand sanitizer, personal hygiene items, and chocolates. We also bring food and items that have resources for victims.
What impact do you hope to make?
According to the USDS, Michigan is the 2nd largest state known for trafficking, and Heavenly Hope wants to help put an end to this statistic by continuing to educate parents and the community, and showing kindness and relationship to victims and survivors. Being that most victims come from vulnerable situations such as homelessness, abuse, and broken homes, most are also seeking to be loved and accepted. With our team going out 4-5 times a month to serve them, we believe that is the key to creating the biggest impact. That impact is simply done by showing love without expecting anything back in return. When they know we care, they know they can trust us to help them. In just 2 yrs, we have served over 1,000 victims, survivors, and at-risk.
