Overview
What is your cause and how will it make the world kinder?

G.O Girls is a nonprofit with a mission to address the critical need for supportive services for young women transitioning out of foster care to adulthood. The purpose of “Girl Talk” is to provide participants with a safe and comfortable environment to discuss issues that they face. G.O Girls seeks to allow the participants to see each other as a support system. We do this by establishing a cohort of girls who can be support each other. There is not a hierarchy during this session, we (including G.O Girls staff) are all young women who have experienced the highs and lows of life.

What impact do you hope to make?

G.O Girls is a 501©3 nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the lives of young women transitioning out of foster care. Statistics show that after reaching the age of 18, 20 percent of the children who were in foster care will become instantly homeless. Only 1 out of every 2 foster kids who age out of the system will have some form of gainful employment by the age of 24. There is less than a 3 percent chance for children who have aged out of foster care to earn a college degree at any point in their life, and 7 out of 10 girls who age out of the foster care system will become pregnant before the age of 21. G.O Girls seeks to change these stats by providing the necessary tools needed to become a successful adult.
