What is your cause and how will it make the world kinder?

Generosity Global has always had a commitment to improving the quality of life for people in need in Baltimore City. From 2010-2013, we grew to become one of the leading social impact organizations in the delivery of nutritious meals and basic living supplies to the homeless through our monthly outreach program Selfless Saturday. Since 2010, through Selfless Saturday has fed and loved on over 10,000 homeless men, women & children in Baltimore City. This movement has created such love & kindness both for volunteers & homeless.
We are raising funds for a mobile shower in an effort to help break the cycle of homelessness. When people can take care of their hygiene, they feel empowered and confident and can they can interview for a job.

How will you use the $10k?

After phase 1 (acquiring the trailer) we will move into equipping the trailer (phase 2) with 6-8 shower stalls... funds will be used to purchase fixtures such as standing shower stalls, pvc pipes, floor tiles (linoleum), shower heads, sinks, mirrors, etc... part of the retrofit phase will also include professionally wrapping the trailer to properly brand it to display our logo as well as display KIND's logo and other Baltimore sponsors.

What impact do you hope to make?

One of the biggest challenges faced by the 4,000+ homeless citizens in Baltimore, is to maintain their personal hygiene. For many years, while serving on the front lines, we have heard the voices of our homeless brothers and sisters saying “If we can just have a place to take a warm shower, we will feel so much better and human again”. Most of the homeless go weeks without taking a shower simply because there are not enough resources for them to do so. With the Generosity Shower (mobile shower on wheels), we will make it possible for people experiencing homelessness in our community to have access to daily shower and by doing so help restore a sense of normalcy, dignity, while improving personal hygiene.

Other Details

The journey is in place with over $8,000 dollars raised for the Generosity Global shower. We have several local companies supporting the Generosity Global shower initiative. In addition , we have applied for grants. We plan to have the funds and project completed in the latter part of 2017. Some creative examples of fundraising are : a Maryland realtor contributing a portion of each house closing, another volunteer created a charity event paint night with 50% of proceeds going to the mobile shower, others are finding sponsors, family and friends in their community, people donating from all over the nation from LA to takes a village and we are that Generosity Global Village!!!

Every month, KIND supports one cause with $10,000
