Overview
What is your cause and how will it make the world kinder?

Our HAPPY Kit is designed to help prevent health issues like childhood obesity, heart disease and diabetes in youth. The kit delivers nutrition and culinary education through fun and engaging activities, cooking videos, and a learning management system. It's also designed to empower youth to make healthier lifestyle choices by promoting the health benefits of eating fresh fruits and vegetables, getting kids excited about learning how to cook nourishing foods, and is also easy for teachers to implement and deliver.

How will you use the $10k?

The $10,000 will be used to purchase kits for 4 schools at $2,500 per kit. Kits include:
18-week nutrition & culinary lesson plan, Printed curriculum guide for facilitators,
Nutrition Games & Activities, Tablets, (preloaded with nutrition lessons, cooking & knife skills video instruction, and much more) Food preparation tools, Grocery store gift cards (for recipe ingredients), Camera (for documenting sessions), Pre and post surveys, Student and teacher access to online (LMS) Learning Management System

What impact do you hope to make?

Our HAPPY Kit program is designed for all youth (grades 2-6) but particularly young people in underserved and at-risk communities, to help educate, raise awareness, and affect healthy behavior changes.  We believe that effective learning and lasting healthy behavior change comes from giving youth direct and positive experiences with foods that nourish and sustain good health, as well as empowering them to make informed decisions about the foods they eat.

Our HAPPY Kit Program journey over the next 6 month includes engaging elementary schools in taking our #PlantPowerUp School Challenge. www.plantpowerup.org In each participating classroom, students will commit to tracking the fruits and veggies they eat each day for 21 days while also learning about plant powers in fun and engaging in-class activities and cooking videos. Students (whole classroom) who successfully complete the challenge win a free HAPPY Kit for their school. During this time, we will also continue fundraising for additional kits, purchasing the kit's equipment and tools, and finalizing our Learning Management System design and content.

Every month, KIND supports one cause with $10,000
