Love, Emma Legacy Project

What is your cause and how will it make the world kinder?

Love, Emma is a non-profit (501c-3) legacy project we created to honor our daughter's passion: caring for others. She was keenly aware that the people who need the most support are often overlooked or mistreated. On October 13, 2016, our beautiful, smart, sweet, funny Emma passed away from a tragic fall. Emma was our only child and as parents, we had to find a way to honor her and allow her to continue her work helping others.

The project donates custom cinch bags, each containing a S'well bottle, a pair of Bombas socks, 2 Kind Bars, and Burt's Bees toiletries. We are currently funding this project with donations collected from a Generosity fundraiser.

How will you use the $10k?

We have currently raised around $11, 000.00 which we have used to purchase the items for 200 bags. Our goal is to create and distribute 1,000 bags. We would use the $10,000 to purchase the bags, bottles, socks, Kind Bars and toiletries.

Bag Cost:Custom Cinch Bags/embroidered with logo, $1500.00 per 100 bags
S'well bottles $2,000.00 for 100 bottles.
Bombas Socks 900.00 for 100 pairs
Kind Bars 400.00 for 200 + bars (2 per bag)
Cosmetic mesh bags with Burt's Bees toiletries
$1,000 for 100 Burt's Bees toiletry kits, $160.00 for 100 mesh bags
Total Cost for 100 bags: 5,960.00

What impact do you hope to make?

We hope to create community engagement to find solutions to our homeless problem in this country. On a small scale, we will impact the cities of Richmond and Fairfax, VA. On a larger scale, we want to engage all members of our community to come together, pooling skills, talents, and resources to create positive change. Emma wanted this, she saw the injustices in our society today and was deeply troubled. Her last act on this earth was to leave a gift and a kind note to a person she did not know who was homeless. She was keenly aware that the people who need the most support are often overlooked or mistreated. She was compelled to talk about this in her classes, write about this in papers, and create artwork expressing her views.

Other Details

We have the first 100 bags ready to deliver to Richmond. We will assemble and distribute the second 100 bags in Fairfax in early April. Six months from now, we hope to be finishing up at least another 400 bags, depending on funding.

Every month, KIND supports one cause with $10,000
