What is your cause and how will it make the world kinder?
We graduate roughly 375 students per year in which 5 1/2 months prior, were at-risk of failing out of high school. When they leave our academy they are current with the appropriate grade to age, graduated high school, ready to enroll in college, a vocational school or will enter the workforce. As future professionals, we have taught our students how to be confident within and it would be incredible if they felt confident in a new outfit as well when they show up for a job interview. It would make the world kinder because the youth of today will be confident to be leaders of tomorrow.
How will you use the $10k?
In the next graduating class, we have roughly 180 students. We would divide these funds into gift cards that could be used for an outfit when the students go to their first job interview.
What impact do you hope to make?
The student's would be so grateful as 100% of our students are lower income. And we understand the stress that can be felt if they are not equipped with all the tools that they need to be successful. While they have spent 5 1/2 months living at our academy, which is state and federally funded and ran by service members of our military, we do not have the funds allocated for such expenses. It would mean so much in that they could focus on doing a good job, rather than not being able to present themselves well.
