What is your cause and how will it make the world kinder?
The RV Food Pantry distributes food to individuals and families in need. These include children, adults, senior citizens, vets, and people with disabilities. We are a volunteer organization with a dedicated crew of people who by exhibiting kindness, not only receive it in return, but watch the ripple effect it has on our community. When groups like the Boys Scouts, work on food drives and the public shows up to help, we have a great time. I am constantly overwhelmed by desire of people wanting to help. This funding will help us do more for more clients (giving them peace of mind) & create more opportunities for the public to be involved. It will also provide peace for the volunteers who may worry if there will be enough for everyone.
How will you use the $10k?
The $10,000 will be used to purchase food and supplies for our clients. This includes fresh local produce, eggs, meat, and dairy, where possible, providing support to our local farmers as well. Where this is not possible, we will provide the highest quality of food available that we can afford. Our pantry runs year round and includes specialized programs that provide weekend food supplies to students in need, summer breakfast and lunch foods to children in need, summer camp lunch and snack foods, and holiday baskets.
What impact do you hope to make?
We hope to expand and improve upon the relationship with the public. Donors and volunteers are the backbone of our pantry and we look forward to their increased participation. We hope to reach more individuals and families in need by increasing our visibility. We hope to help ease the burden of hunger in our area. We plan to continue our mission of providing nourishment, education and to advocating for individuals and families in need, treating all who seek assistance with dignity, respect and compassion.
