Overview
What is your cause and how will it make the world kinder?

Runnin' for Rhett's Youth Fitness Program was started to empower youth to "Move Into Life" through fitness and education. We fund after school youth fitness programs that teach kids about running, hydration, and nutrition, and the program concludes with them running a 5K. The program stresses that the kids should "run because they can" and teaches them to be grateful for their bodies' abilities and to always be encouraging of others who are also moving.

How will you use the $10k?

It costs us $26 to put one child through our program. The $26 pays for a baby blue T-shirt, a rubber wristband, a race entry, race timing, a finisher's medal, their coach's stipend, and a celebratory roller skating party. The $10,000 will fund an additional 385 students through our Spring 2017 season, which will end with a 5K race in April.

What impact do you hope to make?

All funds will be put into Sacramento area schools. We make a point to target Title I schools, which traditionally have a higher obesity rate. By improving the health of these kids, we also hope to improve the health of their families and to improve their performance in school, setting them up for a brighter future.
