KIND Causes: doubling kindness with a dual donation to Camp Greenheart and Roots of Development
By KIND Editor
From town to wilderness, KIND is helping two great organizations Do the KIND Thing for their community through our KIND Causes program. Each month, KIND supports an inspirational project with $10,000 to help turn a vision into a reality. To kick off the new year, we decided to celebrate two causes in a dual donation, providing $10,000 in critical funding to both Camp Greenheart and Roots of Development. Both organizations rallied their community with over 2000 individuals from each camp (over 4000 people between the two organizations) pledging their support by voting to complete a kind act of their own. We’ve pledged over 570,000 acts of kindness (and counting) through the voting and support of people like you.
Roots of Development provides tools for community leaders who are committed to addressing the local population’s development needs. Connecting an experienced Haitian organization CDECH with a rural community on the island of La Gonave, Haiti, Roots of Development will fund six months worth of capacity-building workshops which include training in strategic planning, budgeting, conflict resolution, and computer technology.
Greenheart International is launching their first summer camp for middle school-aged children in Chicago. Bringing together students from an array of socioeconomic backgrounds, Camp Greentheart will engage youth in wilderness education, personal development, and cultural diversity. Foreign exchange students from CCI Greenheart programs will serve as Camp Leaders, providing the campers with the opportunity to learn about cultures from around the world.
