saying goodbye: messages for the Sobiech’s
By KIND Editor
Have you ever encountered a stranger that ended up changing your life? When we first learned of Zach Sobiech’s story, we were inspired by his boundless empathy, compassion and light—he always searched for the good in others even in the midst of the toughest circumstances.
At 17, Zach was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. With only months to live, Zach turned to music to say goodbye. In his final days, he touched innumerable people with his personal story and positivity. Take 20 minutes and learn more about Zach in the video from Soul Pancake, above.
“Most people live right in the middle, between ‘dream come true’ and ‘oh…you’re dying.’ It’s a very comfortable place to live,” Zach said. We are inspired by the ways that Zach Sobiech never settled for comfortable.
When Zach passed on May 20th, we reached out to the KIND community to keep his spirit alive. We compiled notes of kindness into a book for Zach’s family, so they can know how his nature and story impacted even those whom he never met.
Are you inspired by Zach’s courage and warmth? Zach’s song, ‘Clouds’ is available on iTunes and other online music stores. The proceeds benefit the Zach Sobiech Research Fund of Children’s Cancer Research Fund.
And there’s one last thing you can do to keep Zach’s spirit alive: get out there and start living!
