spreading kindness from coast to coast
By KIND Editor
World Kindness Day has come and gone until next year but the KIND team is on a mission every day of the year to inspire our community to do the kind thing. Whether it’s spotting and celebrating everyday acts of kindness or gathering the team to help those in need in a bigger way, we’re in 26 cities around the country furthering our mission of making this world a little kinder.
In addition to spotting and celebrating kindness everywhere on World Kindness Day, the team delivered 3,122 care packages to the elderly with the help and support of local pre-schools and elementary schools from coast to coast. While learning the importance of kindness, the children at the local schools colored images of kindness that were included in the care packages delivered later in the day by the KIND team. In addition to kindness inspired coloring pages, the care packages included Bombas socks.
Why Bombas? They’re also on a mission to do good – after learning that socks were the number one most requested clothing item at homeless shelters, the company set out to help solve this problem. For every pair of socks purchased, one pair is donated. Learn more about how they give back here.
And, in the spirit of supporting the elderly on World Kindness Day, starting tomorrow on Giving Tuesday, December 1st, Bombas and KIND have partnered through the end of the year – purchase Bombas socks with the discount code KINDAWESOME to receive a 20% discount, and have a pair of socks donated to Meals on Wheels, for every pair you purchase.
Jenny Busby, KIND Field Team Regional Manager in Los Angeles, shared with us what made this World Kindness Day special:
“We were able to take time to give back to our local communities and engage them in the process as we continued to pay it forward throughout the day. Listening to elementary students’ share what kindness means to them, how it made them feel and the way the elderly eyes lit up at the nursing homes when we hand delivered care packages is what World Kindness Day is all about.”
Don’t wait until next World Kindness Day to start celebrate kindness. Today, and every day, you can recognize someone kind in your life at howkindofyou.com. Happy kind spotting!
