we went on a kindness safari!
One of our favorite jobs is planning programs and events that spread the #kindawesome message throughout our communities. As part of our ongoing program, Kind Parents, Kind Kids, we created Kindness Safaris that use fun, family activities to show kids the importance of being kind every day. These Kindness Safaris were a great example of how fun, learning and acts of kindness can come together through family activities at the zoo. Kindness Safaris, held at 19 zoos across the country on Saturday, May 16th, created a special day for families as they participated in kindness activities inspired by animals. As the children and their families arrived at the zoo, they received activity booklets to track their kind acts throughout the day. Some of the activities included:
Write a thank you note to a zookeeper
See a bear, give someone you love a bear hug
See an animal family, take a family photo
On their way out, families were given a flower to pass along to someone to brighten their day and a take-home kindness kit to continue spreading kindness in their communities. The kit included Compliment Cards to share with friends and family and a Kindness Tracker to record kind acts at home. Did you attend a Kindness Safari at one of the participating zoos? We’d love to hear your story and your favorite experience at the zoo!
