At KIND, we’re on a mission to help make our snacks as sustainable as they are delicious… and while we have a lot to be proud of, we know there’s always a bigger challenge to meet. Especially when it comes to our packaging. Our goal? To help make sure all our packaging is designed for recyclability by 2030.

That’s why we’re excited to be launching a pilot for a brand-new recyclable paper wrapper on our Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt single bars in collaboration with select Whole Foods Market stores across North America. The pilot will run for six months, so thousands of snackers can make the kinder choice on the shelf and at the bin.

Designed for Recyclability

Meet our new curbside recyclable paper wrapper! This wrapper is one of the solutions we’re testing that has the potential to be recycled at scale today. It's:

  • Pre-qualified as Widely Recyclable by How2Recycle®
  • Recycle if Clean & Dry
  • Still hitting our high standards for safety and quality

Our Sustainable Packaging Journey

Our first paper wrapper pilot in 2023 showed us one major theme: you love the paper wrapper idea (and, honestly, so do we). Now we’re back at it trying to make things even better. That’s why we’re teaming up with partners like Printpack to continue investing in finding alternative solutions.

KIND Today & Tomorrow

At KIND, we’re doing more than just testing paper wrappers – we’re on a mission to make sure our packaging is designed for recyclability. While our current plastic packaging isn’t widely recyclable yet, it’s built with the future in mind, ready for when recycling systems in the U.S. catch up.

But honestly? That’s not enough for us. That’s why we’re also exploring new options, like our paper wrapper, and teaming up with coalitions to help push sustainable packaging forward on a larger scale.

Oh, and our paper box? Those are already widely recyclable. Plus, we make sure they’re responsibly sourced, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council or the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.

It’s an Open Bar

We’re calling this a test for a reason. By trying out this paper wrapper in select stores today, we’ll learn what works (and what doesn’t) so we can make bigger and better changes in the future.

We’re excited to bring you along on this journey… this is just the beginning.

That’s a Wrap!

It takes good partners to do good work, and we are so appreciative of Printpack, who helped us bring this pre-qualified Widely Recyclable wrapper to life, and Whole Foods Market for making it possible to get this paper wrapper test into the hands of thousands of snackers across 160 stores in Arizona, southern California, Connecticut, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Texas.
